Fall cleaning, Ménage d'automne

So we had our family meeting. A few changes were decided to make our morning and evening routine more efficient and enjoyable for everyone (just hate to send the girls to school after I've been yelling to them to get ready...). It will probably need some adjustments, we will see...

I've started also some serious purging, but it is so rainy these days, it's hard to take nice pictures to show you. Next time!

Notre conseil de famille a eu lieu. Quelques changements ont été instaurés pour rendre nos routines du matin et du soir plus efficaces et agréables (je déteste envoyés les filles à l'école après leur avoir crié de se préparer pour partir...) Il y aura sûrement encore des ajustements à faire, on verra...

J'ai aussi commencé un sérieux ménage, mais c'est tellement sombre et pluvieux ces derniers jours qu'il est difficile de faire de bonnes photos pour vous montrer. Prochaine fois!

It's enough! Ça suffit!

Let's be honest. Now that school has started, it is very evident that our morning and evening routine is not running smoothly. We really need to have a family talk to figure out how to make it, if not fun, at least run. Also, I have a few problem spots in my house that hopelessly need some purging and organizing. See my sewing room, it's also my boyfriend's office!!!. It's been this way since we cleaned the attic...I would just love to go around the house with two big garbage bags and stuff them with all that needs to be thrown away or given away, without giving it a second thought... Do you have crises like that?

Soyons honnête. Depuis que l'école a recommencé, il est très évident que notre routine du matin et celle de fin de soirée sont loin d'être au point. Tout la famille doit absolument s'asseoir ensemble et trouver des solutions pour que ce soit plus agréable. En plus, quelques endroits problématiques dans la maison ont désespérément besoin d'une purge et d'organisation. Voyez ma salle de couture qui sert également de bureau à mon chum!!!. Elle est ainsi depuis que nous avons fait du ménage dans le grenier... J'aimerais me promener avec deux gros sac à ordure et y mettre tout ce qui doit être jeter ou donner, sans y réfléchir une seconde... Est-ce que vous avez des crises comme ça?

Mount Royal: The wild side, Mont Royal : Le côté sauvage

Mount Royal is so beautiful this time of year. On Saturday, we took a hike there with my aunt and cousin. This time we took the trails in the woods. It was wonderful!

Le mont Royal est vraiment très beau à ce temps-ci de l'année. Samedi, nous y sommes allés avec ma tante et ma cousine. Cette fois-ci nous avons pris les sentiers dans la forêt. C'était superbe!

Header ache, Mal d'en-tête

Till now my header had no pictures, not because I wanted a clean, design, zen and pure look, but because just hadn't figure out how... I took me at least 20 tries. The final look is not amazing, but is it representative? Tell me! Any suggestions???

Jusqu'à présent mon en-tête n'avait pas d'image. Ce n'est pas que je tenais à avoir un look hyper simple, design, zen et pure, non. Mais parce que je n'avais pas encore trouvé comment... Après plus de 20 essaies, j'y suis arrivé. Le résultat n'est pas exceptionnel, mais est-ce représentatif? Dites-moi! Des suggestions???

In the kitchen, Dans la cuisine

I finally found a nice long kilim carpet for the kitchen. The other one was very small and when the kids washed their hands there would be water everywhere. It is also thicker and more confortable for when I'm standing there doing dishes. And it is a great punch of color (great for the morale when you're scouring pots). Funny how little things can sometimes make a big difference.

J'ai finalement trouvé un joli et long tapis kilim pour la cuisine. Le précédent était trop petit. Lorsque les enfants se lavaient les mains, il y avait de l'eau partout. Quand je suis debout à faire la vaisselle j'apprécie aussi qu'il soit plus épais et plus confortable. En plus c'est un super punch de couleur (très bon pour le moral quand on frottent des chaudrons). C'est fou comme des petits détails peuvent faire une grande différence.

Another thing that makes me happy is my little Pyrex dish. I have no idea what they are intended for (mini meatloaf?).

Autre chose qui me fait plaisir : mes mini plats Pyrex. Aucune idée à quoi ils peuvent servir (mini pain à la viande?).

Summer one more time, L'été encore une fois

Summer is officially over... Here are some very nice moments the kids (and us) spent this summer at their cousins' chalet on Lake Champlain.

I'm so happy about my latest find. When I saw it at first I thought it was just an old dictionary for anglophone students. But when I started to look carefully at the illustrations and I started to wonder if it was a joke. Take a look and you will see what I mean.

Je suis tellement heureuse de ma dernière trouvaille. Lorsque j'ai vu ce livre, j'ai pensé que c'était juste un vieux dictionnaire pour étudiants anglophones. Mais quand je me suis mise à vraiment regarder les illustrations, je me suis demandé si c'était une blague. Voyez ce que je veux dire.

Intrigued? This book was first printed in 1949 (this is a 1961's sixth edition) by the University of London Press. Philip Linklater, Officer of the Academy, is the author of this dictionary. He also illustrated it with the help of his son and his "teenager's playful pencil "!!!

Intrigué? La première édition de ce livre fut publiée en 1949 (ma copie fait partie de la sixième édition de 1961) par les Presses de Londres. Philip Linklater, Officier de l'Académie, est l'auteur de ce dictionnaire. Il signe aussi les illustrations avec son fils et son "crayon enjoué d'adolescent"!!!

Still thinking of Paris, Encore Paris

Here is another part of our trip to Paris last April. One that I enjoyed very much : shopping! Before we left, I did a bit of research to find some great adress of children's vintage stores. I also asked Ribambins' parisian blogger who knows quite a lot about the subject. Vintage and upcycled in Paris are very popular, so much more than in Montreal. I didn't buy (so expensive!!!) but I saw some amazing things and came back so inspired.

Voici une autre partie de notre voyage à Paris en avril dernier. Une qui m'a plu énormément : le "magazinage". Avant notre départ, j'ai fait des recherches sur l'internet pour trouver de bonnes adresses de boutiques vintage pour enfants. J'ai aussi demandé conseil à la blogueuse parisienne de Ribambins passionnée par le sujet. La récup et la brocante sont très populaires là-bas, tellement plus qu'à Montréal. Je n'ai rien acheté (bien trop cher!!!), mais j'ai vu des choses extraordinaires et suis revenue très inspirée.
