Out the door, Dehors la porte

I've always hated our door. I don't like the color, don't like the window, don't like the mail "thing", don't like the handall. I don't like it at all! Since we can't afford to change it completely, we're changing it bit by bit.

Je n'ai jamais aimé notre porte. Aime pas la couleur, aime pas la fenêtre, aime pas la fente à courier, aime pas la poignée. Je ne l'aime pas du tout!. Puisque nous ne pouvons nous permettre de la changer complètement, nous la changeons peu à peu.

First we screwed the mail opening. In the winter, more cold than mail would come in. Then we changed the window (no more fern) for a clear one (the cheapest).

Premièrement nous avons visé la fente à courier. En hiver, plus de froid que de courrier y entrait. Puis nous avons changé la fenêtre (plus de fougère) pour une sans motif (la moins cher).

We loved the all the light that came in, but we needed a bit of privacy. I had seen in a magazine a project that was done with some window film.

Nous aimions toute la lumière qui entrait, mais nous avions besoin d'un peu d'intimité. J'avais vu un projet dans un magazine réalisé avec de la pellicule pour fenêtre.

I cleaned really well the window. Then I mesured it and cut the film.

J'ai bien lavé la fenêtre. Pui j'ai mesuré sa taille et coupé la pellicule.

I printed our door number and cut it.

J'ai imprimé notre adresse et l'ai découpée.

I sprayed on some water mixed with a few drops of dish soap (forgot to take the picture) and slowly installed the film.

J'ai vaporisé de l'eau mélangée avec quelques gouttes de savon à vaisselle (j'ai oublié de prendre une photo) et j'ai installé doucement la pellicule.

The result!

I'm not totally pleased. The effect isn't perfect. I think my film was too old (5 years). Also I had to put the film outside the door because I didn't cut out the numbers on the right side... I will have to do it again. Another day. Next step, painting the door (and taking off the old adress).

Le résultat!

Je ne suis pas complètement satisfaite. L'effet n'est pas parfait. Je crois que ma pellicule était trop vieille (5 ans). Aussi, j'ai été obligé de mettre la pellicule à l'extérieur parce que je n'ai pas découpé les chiffres du bon côté... Je devrai le refaire. Un autre jour. Prochaine étape, peinturer la porte (et décrocher la veille adresse).

Halloween is near! With the scraps the kids and I did some window decorations.

L'Halloween approche! Avec les retailles, les enfants et moi avons fait des décorations pour les fenêtres.
